Static is a natural occurrence that is caused by a variety of factors.
Regardless of its origin, any form of static can be damaging
to sensitive electronic devices. The use of static control
products is an effective solution to keep such products
safe during transportation or storage. Depending on your
specific needs, there are a number of different types of
static control products and static sensitive packaging options to choose from.
At Protective Packaging Corporation we offer two main types of static control products: metal-in shielding bags and metal-out shielding bags. Metal-in shielding bags are built with a layer of metal buried between a layer of polyester and the polyethylene. The layer is positioned as such in order to eliminate the damaging effects of electro-static fields. This specific type of barrier bag is designed to protect extremely static sensitive products.
In metal-out shielding bags the metal layer is located much closer to the outside of the bag. It is designed to protect its contents from static induced damage. They are actually capable of dissipating a 5,000 Volt static charge in less than 100 microseconds. In addition to these shielding bags we also offer moisture barrier bags that come with ESD shielding and heavy-duty Tyvek solutions for added durability.
