This stage coach had to be trucked on an open flat bed truck from Texas to New York. The concern was that it would be damaged during transit from road debri and moisture. The coach was too fragile for a heavy duty tarp.
It was essential that the covering method be flexible enough to leave the wheels exposed, but strong enough to resist any foreign objects that may contribute to damaging the stagecoach. The covering must not add any unnecessary weight to the fragile stagecoach.
A light weight 4 mil shrink wrap film was placed around the entire coach giving it complete protection yet leaving the wheels exposed so that it could be loaded and unloaded from the truck.
